KKSnap Privacy Policy

KKSnap is developed and maintained by Ruihong Jiang. This policy explains how KKSnap handles data.

1. Screenshots and local files

Screenshots, clipboard content, and files selected by the user are processed locally on the device. KKSnap does not upload this content to the developer's server.

2. QR sharing on a local network

When the user starts QR sharing, the app temporarily runs a local network service and creates a QR code containing a random access path. A device that has the QR code and can reach the same local network can view the screenshot or file being shared.

The Microsoft Store edition stops the service when the sharing window is closed. Use this feature only on a trusted local network and do not share the QR code with unrelated people.

3. Anonymous usage statistics

Anonymous usage statistics are enabled by default and can be disabled at any time in Settings. While enabled, events are sent to https://www.reanote.com/api/v1/screenshot/events.

The data may include:

• app version, build time, operating system family, and major operating system version;
• event time, feature name, and limited feature parameters such as image format or a broad duration range;
• random installation, session, and event identifiers;
• coarse display-resolution and display-scaling (DPI) ranges.

The app does not send the following through anonymous usage statistics:

• MAC address, user name, or computer name;
• screenshots or clipboard content;
• file names, file paths, or screen coordinates.

Events are sent over HTTPS. As with ordinary network requests, the server may temporarily process an IP address while establishing the connection and applying security controls. Raw IP addresses are not stored in anonymous usage records. Random identifiers are not used for sign-in, authorization, or licensing.

For compatibility with early releases, the server may receive legacy usage records. A MAC address in a legacy record is converted in memory into a pseudonymous installation fingerprint using a keyed one-way algorithm. The raw MAC address, screen count, and selection position are not stored. Legacy screen dimensions are converted only into a coarse resolution range. The fingerprint is used only for aggregate PV, UV, and operating-system statistics, not for advertising profiles or cross-app tracking.

The current release uses HTTPS whenever possible. Some early releases or Windows XP systems that cannot connect to the current HTTPS endpoint may send the same anonymous events over unencrypted HTTP. These events do not include screenshots, clipboard content, file information, screen coordinates, user names, or computer names. Users of early releases or Windows XP should upgrade as soon as practical.

To compare promotion channels, the website records the channel name, page language, visits to the homepage, clicks to Microsoft Store, direct-download clicks, and the app version available at the time. This measurement does not use cookies and does not store IP addresses, user identifiers, or device identifiers. Records are retained for no more than 400 days.

4. User controls and retention

The user can enable or disable anonymous usage statistics at any time in Settings. When disabled, the app deletes its local pending queue and random installation identifier. Completed aggregate statistics cannot be linked to a specific user through that identifier.

Anonymous usage events are retained for no more than 400 days. Problem reports and optional contact information submitted by the user are retained for no more than 365 days.

5. Use and sharing of data

Anonymous statistics are used only to understand feature usage, investigate compatibility problems, and improve the app. The developer does not sell this data or use it for advertising profiles or cross-app tracking.

6. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app's features or data practices change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
